Photo Gallery of Saadian Tombs, Mausoleum 17th century Saadi Dynasty, tombs of Ahmad al-Mansur and his family.
The Saadian tombs in Marrakech date back from the time of the sultan Ahmad al-Mansur (1578-1603). The Saadi Dynasty began with the sovereignty of Sultan Mohammed ash-Sheikh back in 1554 and finished in 1659 with the end of the reign of Sultan Ahmad el Abbas.
This is one of the top monuments in the city and can be seen in about 1 hour visit. The tombs were only lately revealed in 1917 and were restored during the 20th century.
The mausoleum includes the bodies of 60 members of the Saadi Dynasty that came from the valley of the Draa River, south of the Atlas Mountains. Amongst the graves are those of Ahmad al-Mansur and his relatives.
